Zak's eyes widen as Drizzt explains his plan, heart swelling up all over again. They'd been planning the same thing, on finding each other and finally escaping their hell. His eyes go glassy for a moment but he keeps himself steady, resting his hand over his boy's trembling fingers to offer strength and warmth as best he can.
"A powerful companion indeed." He says with a small smile. "Your cat will be fine. I know that beings summoned from other planes recuperate when they return, though I have never known one to be called with a statue."
Still, there is something far more important to speak of.
"But I believe we have already found a way out." The grip of his hand becomes more firm over Drizzt's. "Unintentionally, but I believe we have found he-"
Then he hitches in a sharp cry as he moves to sit next to his son on the bed, the bending of his body making the shard of wood wedged in his side shift and become too sharp a pain to ignore.
